London Guide

Restaurants

Mix of hard-to-get reservations and more casual line-up or walk-in stuff I’ve loved

Thai

Kiln

  • Rotating menu so check that you can eat stuff before you go
  • Small plates are great for sharing
  • They don't take reservations so you basically go and put your name down and then my rec is to go to The Devonshire (2 min walk) after and have a drink or two and then they'll text you when your table is ready and you can go back to the restaurant
  • Sitting at the bar is really fun because they play songs on vinyl. You can talk to the staff and ask them what they're playing and give recommendations which is really cool. I always save a few new songs.

Peruvian

Coya

  • This is a great seafood spot if you're looking for something a little more upbeat, a little lively, and don't want to just get sushi
  • Japanese Peruvian fusion is one of those don't-knock-it-till-you-try-it things
  • The bar serves some of the best drinks I've tried as well
  • Get so many crudo to share, the miso sea bass (so good), and the octopus starter

Dishoom Covent Garden

  • This place is great and I think the Covent Garden one is the original
  • Great Indian food at a good price (for London)
  • Works really well for lunch as well in case your dinners are packed already

Berenjak Borough

  • Really good Mediterranean food. It’s Laser Wolf-esque where they do starters and then bring out skewers. Hummus is to die for
  • Not a huge deal if you don’t have a res because the line moves quick, but probably grab one anyway
  • There’s a nice French bistro called Camille right around the corner too which has a solid wine list

Greek

Agora

  • Great Borough Market option if you want something lively but less formal than a big reservation.
  • Greek small plates, flatbreads, and rotisserie cooking
  • They have a sister restaurant called OMA upstairs (or downstairs?) which is a much harder res to get
  • The chard borani is buss. Will 100% be your new favourite dip of all time

Pizza

Alley Cats Pizza

  • Really good, crisp, New York-style pizza, great vibe. Had to wait in line a bit but it was worth it.
  • They had an amazing movie playing on the TV in there too I lowkey was locked in on it.

The Landseer Arms

  • Beautiful neighbourhood pub, if you're in London on a Sunday, try the chicken roast
  • Kinda far (northeast), can probably find another great roast nearer to where you're staying if too far
  • They have nice cocktails as well

The Plimsoll

  • Award-winning pub which is known for being more food-serious (but they serve a great Guinness as well)
  • One of the best burgers in London (I made everyone who was abroad go and they loved it)
  • Amazing menu with a ton of variety and a great seafood selection as well

Gymkhana

  • Apparently one of the best Indian restaurants in the world. I can't say for sure because I've never been able to get a reservation. I lowkey back that you can snag one though.
  • Let me know how it is if you go.

Fatt Pundit

  • I went here but didn't put it on Beli.
  • The chili chicken is the best I've had and the soft shell crab is very good too.
  • Sorry the photos are so blurry!

Nando's Liverpool Street Station

  • Nandos has a special place in my heart
  • High quality grilled chicken, amazing sauces and the new broccolini side was special
  • There are probably 40 of these around London (just checked, it's actually 100), so I wouldn't call it a bucket-list spot, but since there are so many it's a great option for when you're not sure what you want to do for lunch and you're looking for something quick and cheap
